I applaud Steemit's general marketing so far.
However, its sub-reddit is a barren land with one moderator, little traffic and apparently zero custom CSS.

The person who controls the subreddit can be found at https://www.steemit.com/@ned
Why is this even important?
It's an easy to use message distribution platform for newbies and the general community to get problems resolved and information shared quickly and effectively.
And resources can be stickied within a subreddit so that an understanding of the platform can be more accessible to newbies, or people marginally interested.
For example, if a non-techy facebook friend reads a post of mine promoting Steem, I expect him to be able to access documentation that explains how it works and to access important resources with great facility.
Otherwise he may lose interest.
A case study worth looking at is Ethereum and Bitcoin and how their subreddit facilitated newbie engagement..
Another point is that any technical problems I face with Ethereum or Bitcoin can be readily resolved by community helpers on the subreddit, and infrastructure based discussions can be given much more prominence. to the general community of users, and thus can be had in a much more open way.
And when a Steemit site is down there'll be less panic!
The fact that it's even being used everyday by newcomers despite the fact that it's essentially unmoderated and isn't styled at all, shows the extent of its accessibility to the general public.
