I've been here just over a week now. I'm slightly less confused than I was a week ago, but not by much.
Steem, Steem power, Steem dollars. I'm supposed to value the utility of one over another because of what exactly? Why has the seemingly arbitrary 30-day cut-off been replaced by a seemingly arbitrary 7-day cut-off? And why any cut-off? Brand new lame content has the potential to be a source of revenue but a really good and useful 8- or 31-day-old post might as well not exist? A really good and useful post that happens to be written by a noob might only get a few reads and drift off into oblivion but a mediocre post written by someone who's been around for a while could rack up some quatloos.
Is there a reason why powering up can be done at the drop of a hat but powering down is a long-drawn-out-process? Is there some rule of thumb about when or why one should choose Power Up 100% versus Default 50%/50%?
Okay, at least some of these might be covered somewhere in an "official" FAQ or one of the many explanatory posts I've seen, but is there a compelling reason why so much about this site seems to be not at all intuitive? It's almost as if the user interface was designed to be obtuse.
Is there really no way to to do something as basic as upload an image to steemit so that it can appear in a steemit post? And why is it that such a huge number of posts are little more than a link to someone else's YouTube video?
