What I love and attracted me to Steemit was the positive community goals for all here to progress society into the New Kingdom with a fair currency not controlled or taxed by greedy politicians and businessmen.
From the start, I have attempted to post daily and my first few weeks of posts received upvotes and comments but made little to nothing in Steem/SBD.
What a buzz when I got my first whale vote, this was the real boost to morale which got me kickstarted here on Steemit, thanks to .
This encouraged me to invest the few dollars I had saved into the Steemit platform.
I did make a few noobie mistakes on the way especially learning how to do transactions in crypto, it's a whole new world.
We have all encountered many who have come here to make an income, absolutely nothing wrong with that. Newer members must be expected to make mistakes until they are pointed in the right direction.
Biggest mistakes made by newer members:
Spamming the same comments. Asking, begging or demanding Upvotes or Follows. Plagiarising content in their posts. Following thousands of accounts, impossible to follow their posts. My advice is: Make 1 good quality post a day. Avoid Resteeming multiple posts, the quickest way to lose me as a follower is by constantly Resteeming other posts. Follow Steemit members whom you find interesting. Interact positively and respectfully.Another issue that has popped up lately "flagging"
I believe that flagging a post or comment should only be done in extreme cases. Steemit used to provide guidelines when it came to flagging, but I see that those guidelines (abuse, plagiarism, trolling, etc.) have been removed and it is now open slather to flag a post or comment for any reason you wish.
This has created a "flagging war" between Steemit members who have had personality clashes or disagreements. Rules of Conduct need to be addressed by the Steemit Management, this advice comes from a former soldier of 13 years with two UN Peacekeeping Missions under his belt.
