Albert Einstein's treasures always draw attention. Moreover, some of the letters he wrote were also auctioned off by the auction house.
Earlier, a letter about the theory about the happy life that this great scientist wrote in Tokyo in 1922 was auctioned off in October. Now another letter will again be auctioned.
This time the letter will be auctioned for his old friend, Michael Besso. The letter, written in Germany on April 29, 1917, contains a special theory of relativity.
But not only tells the story of his theory, the letter also mentions about a friend of another Einstein, namely Friedrich Adler. Adler himself was a friend of Einstein who was tried for murdering Austrian Foreign Minister Karl von Sturgkh in 1916 (during World War I).
Einstein's friendship
Launched from Live Science, Monday (22/01/2018), friendship Einstein and Adler intertwined in the physics and socialism. This is evidenced in a paper published in the German Studies Review of 1978.
Adler was a theoretical physicist who became a socialist revolutionary at the time.
When von Sturgkh, Austria's foreign minister at the time, banned faculty from the University of Vienna to meet and discuss with parliament, Adler responded unexpectedly. Adler shot the officer at lunch.
Afterwards, Adler was arrested and found guilty. He was sentenced to death for his mistake.
But this physicist was never executed. Instead, the government sentenced him to 18 years of hard work.
In his letter to Besso, Einstein discusses Adler. The famous scientist with the theory of relativity asked Besso for advice on how he should respond to a letter from Adler.
Adler wrote a letter to Einstein about the theory of relativity, in which he continued to highlight the theory of Ernst Mach "up".
Mach is an Austrian physicist whose work predicts Einstein's contribution. Unfortunately, Mach had died when Einstein wrote the letter.
Proclaimed from Space.com in March 2017, the special theory of relativity alluded to in the epistle lays the groundwork of modern physics theory.
The theory was developed by Einstein in 1905. This theory explains the relationship between space and time.
In the letter that will soon be auctioned off, Einstein stated that he was hardly impressed with Adler's thinking. It made him ask Besso advice how to deal with this situation.
"(Besso) is more wise in human affairs," Einstein wrote in the letter quoted from Newsweek, Tuesday (23/01/2018).
The letter is planned to be auctioned at Nate D. Sanders Auctions, Los Angeles until Thursday (25/01/2018).
