I am still very new to the Steemit community and I only started making posts a couple of weeks ago. The general attitude that I took while starting was that I would figure it out as I went along. To say the least it has been an interesting road and my love for the Steemit content platform technology has only continued to grow.
That being said I just learnt something today that most people probably already know. Whenever you make a post you will only be rewarded Steem Dollars for the first 7 days. Any votes you receive after the 7 day period will not be accompanied with Steem Dollars. I made the mistake of trying to revitalize old forgotten posts by spending Steem in order to promote them, but this was all for nothing as I was not paid for any of the new votes. Steemit used to payout for content twice I believe. The first time would happen after 24 hours and the second after 30 days. After completing a hard fork a few months ago, they changed this policy for the single 7 day payout system that is in use today.
So for those of you who don't know, if you decide to spend money on promoting one of your posts be sure to do it right away rather than later, so that your content gets the most revenue as possible and you don't waist your Steem on promoting content that is past the 7 day mark.
Thanks for reading this quick post and I hope this has helped someone out there who is new to this system like I am.
