This morning one of my favorite Steemians @RobertAndrew had a great post about how to deal with bullies where he discussed how he's torn regarding how to deal with them and whether fathers should encourage their kids to fight back or stand up for themselves.
I think bullying is a huge issue, happiness levels among kids are down, suicide rates are up, it's very sad when these kids who are bullied find their lives so hopeless they think suicide is the only way. Suicide is always sad but it's even more tragic when you see like 8 year old kids doing it.
For that reason I take great joy in watching "instant karma" or "bully beatdown videos. @RobertAndrew 's post made me think of this one which is one of my favorites...
One thing I commented on in Roberts post is that I think it's really cool today that the media, movies, Hollywood is starting to put out the message it's okay to be different. I remember when I was a kid all the 80's and 90's movies featured the cool kids as traditionally cool kids who had nice clothes, were good at sports, etc. I like today how movies like "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" and other movies are making it "cool" to be different and to be yourself. I can't think of other movies off the top of my head but that's a common theme among movies today is that it's okay to be yourslef nad okay to be different and cool isn't just what traditionally has been cool
