As we prepare to host our first mentorship session for some newbies at Rivers State University as a follow up on the last steemit awareness campaign, the question; why are you here? popup in my mind. This is a very important question to be answered before one begin his steemit journey.
There is the popular saying that;
When purpose is not define, abuse is inevitable.
We therefore need to define our purpose from the beginning of our steemit journey. This will guild us and keep us on track as long as we are here to stay. Most times most people leave the steemit blockchain as a result of not defining the reason for being here in the fast place. They just came on board and left the same way they came. You must have a defined purpost to be here.
Some people find themselves everywhere(like what Nigerians calls "anywhere belle face") on steemit. They move by the wind, they have no direction and end up no where because there wasn't a define direction at first before their journey began. If you don't have a clear cut definition of your destination, any bus stop is comfortable, we have to give destination to our journey and that's gives us direction.
Defining your purpose gives direction to your actions.
Most people leave steemit because they have no goal and target therefore there is no yardstick for measuring their success and failure. We have seen some people who joined steemit and in few weeks or months made a tonne of success. This is not because they are superb or they are special, some of these people had a laid down reason to be on steemit and they followed through, they measured their success based on purpose and made necessary adjustments.
Steemit is Not a Money Making Machine
One great mistake people make before joining steemit is thinking steeemit is a place to print money and once you are on board the money will just keep rolling. Having a wrong purpose is worse than not having a purpose at all. Wrong purpose makes us to measure our success and failures from the wrong premise and therefore end up in shipwreck.
Steemit is not a place to manufacture money, thou money can be manufacture or earn here, it goes more than making money. If you have the money generating tool mindset of steemit, you are sure closer to the exist door than the staying place. For you to make success here, you must take your eyes off the money being earn on this platform.
Steem is a place of value
Steemit is a place to add and receive value, it's either you are adding value or you are receiving and rewarding value, value differs with people and situations. You must define the value you are bringing to the steemit blockchain. Your goals and targets should be built around this value. Your action here should be to propagate this value. If this is well defined before the steemit journey began, it becomes easy for one to make success here.
The earning is a reward for value, achievement of goals and targets built on the purpose of value will eventually bring the earnings our way in the long run. Rather than pursuing earnings, pursue the defined purpose and the earnings will roll in eventually.
