Hive account@shostak developed chrome app solution with inbuilt drag&drop solution.
Its super-straightforward : you start an app, you have submit field and drag&drop field:
(You should not worry, because this submit field is simply the steemit.com/submit, though you may login without a chance your password would be compromised. )
Simply drag your images to the drag&drop field and wait for the download to complete. (Indicator will disappear after uploading is complete).
AWESOME! Now you have ready-to-go image, right in your Submit text field. You can upload more images as well.
We have submitted our extension to the Google Chrome Web Store, its current version is 0.1.
