Starting out on here is tough - it is difficult to get upvotes on your blog. If you want to have a successful blog on Steemit, you need to grow your following. When starting out on the platform, I think your best bet is to engage with other users frequently.
- Leave thoughtful comments on their posts.
- Give them helpful advice based on your own experiences and knowledge.
- Have conversations and make genuine connections.
If you write decent blog posts, this kind of engagement should get a lot of followers.
The following trick may help to increase your following with each of your blog posts.
I have done some testing and have found I get more followers when at the end of my post I put something like:
“If you enjoyed this, please follow me for more.”
“If this piqued your interest, remember to follow me for more.”
“If you liked this, please consider following me.”
But, I got even better results when at the end of my post all I put was:
"Follow me
"
I don’t particularly like putting just that at the end of my post because I feel it’s a bit abrupt. But, as long as it’s the most effective I’ll probably stick with it.
Something I haven’t experimented with is putting a GIF or photo at the end of each post. It’s possible that this will be even more effective than the simple “Follow me ”. It'd certainly be more appealing!
This post will begin my experimentation with a GIF:
