mentioned this as a subject topic weeks ago now. I made a note that I would write about it but haven't until now. It's a great idea and I have to give her the credit for it.

- How do you find out about STEEM and Steemit?
- What were your initial experiences and thoughts?
I had the worst possibly start to the crypt-currency world. I could not have timed it any worse or made a worse choice for my toes in the water.
December 2017 was when it was at an all time high, and to top it all I invested in something that was going to go bust in 3 weeks time.
They say you learn from experience and it was some experience losing £700 to the scam that was BitConnect.
You might agree with me when I say most would have simply said, ‘Fuck this shit I'm out’, but something compelled me to keep going. Then came BitConnectX and yet another scam.
By this time I had had enough and I managed to get a paltry $38 back for my investment. BitConnectX seems to have gone down the pan, so I think I did the right thing.

Not dwelling on my lost earnings, I bought a little BitCoin and a little Etherium at the outrageous prices that they demanded in that period of time.
www.coinmarketcap.com became my friend and I wondered what all these other ones were all about. ‘If its not a major one then forget it’, became my silent mantra, but hang on.. what’s this STEEM currently running at number 27 in the charts?
This one has something tangible behind it, and is not some ‘coin’ with all these promises attached. I had seen articles appear in my Google feed beforehand with ‘steemit.com’ before but had ignored them until now.
It had me intrigued. I signed up for an account in early February 2018 expecting to have a look around later that day.
The next day nothing happened, or the next.. or the next. My mouth was starting to yawn loudly... ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh..
By this time I was doing Google searches and entering, ‘Steemit account creation slow’. I got plenty of answers but the one that stuck in my mind was, ‘It’s so popular that there is a waiting list for accounts’.
A waiting list in this day and age? Crikey this must be good, and if it's that good then I want in.
THREE weeks later, I kid you not I got an email stating that my account was ready. I was brimming with anticipation and hastily logged on for the first time on March 3rd 2018.
The interface was boring, the search was adequate to say the least but look at all these people earning over $1000 per post. Trending of course is what I was viewing,
I had to give this a go. My first post was about something creeping around in my loft. It was short, had a little humour and got me all of $0.27. gave me a ‘big vote’ and was I happy. I had written something and had earned something.
Now I needed to earn $1000 like those others on the Trending page. Surely it was just a matter of writing something a little more beefy?
My next two articles took me much longer to write than the maiden one and got me a fat $0.00. What was going on? These ones took me more than an hour each to write and people should vote them up $100 at a time!
We have all been there, and if you have been lucky enough to escape the $0.00 post syndrome then congratulations. This is the low point in ones Steemit career.
Things can only get better from $0.00.
That is my Steemit early days story. Now tell me yours.
If you found this article so invigorating that you are now a positively googly-eyed, drooling lunatic with dripping saliva or even if you liked it just a bit, then please upvote, comment, resteem, engage me or all of these things.
