So, my steemit account has been online for 8 days according to steemd.com but I've only been actively immersing myself in the platform for about 5 days and this is what I've got so far.
First off, just look at the comment section on any youtube video… did that disgust you? Now look at any comment section in Steemit. That's the difference. Mutual respect, social intelligence, engaging discussions that are not emotionally laced with insults. Enter the new phase of social enlightenment.
In Steemit I have found a group of like-minded individuals working to make social media something that will work along-side of us, but not consume us. Like-minded in the sense that we all seem to be done with the trajectory of current platforms and the harm resulting from lack of accountability.
Steemit incentivizes proper social behavior. Unfortunately, we have proved that without it most people will let lose, hiding behind the anonymity of their computer screen, and rip people apart. Close their mind off tightly.
The early adopters of social media (back in the myspace days) have seen the full evolution. We have been the ones engaged in facebook fights back in 2008 when we were still learning how to use it. We saw first-hand the damage we caused. Now, if you're like me, you've sat back and watched the older generation go through the same process. There were always positives about social media, and I believe Steemit is a way to break through and facilitate a rewarding experience, while creating a tighter knit global community.
Thank you everyone who has listened to me on here and started following me!
