Some of you might have heard it many times already but still the Witness Voting Engagement isn´t too high among all active Steemians. Therefore it simply can´t be said too often that it´s in our Power to make sure that only honorable and capable Witnesses keep our beloved Blockchain up and running!
What Are Witnesses Actually Doing For Us?
Well we could make it complicated and get into all the tech details on what a Witness is actually supposed to do like running a server, maintaining a price feed and if possible even running his/her own seed-node. But I guess many would just stop reading from then on so that I want to keep it simple.
Steem Witnesses are running the system, confirming upvotes and transaction on the Blockchain to keep it all working for us. So to make it very short, as long as they keep their systems up and running properly we can enjoy steeming without any issues 24/7 the whole year 😊

The Top 20 Witnesses are actually the most important ones for the Steem Blockchain as their servers handle the majority of all produced Blocks. So take a look at the current Keyplayers from whom you might possibly already know some due to projects just like MSP, the esteem app or others.

- How to vote for one of the Top 50 Witnesses
The first possibility to vote for a witness is by simply clicking the button left to their name. But that´s just possible for the Top 50 Witnesses of the Steem Blockchain.
- How to vote for another Witness
In case you want to vote for a Witness ranked 51+ then you´ll have to scroll down to the bottom of the page and type in his or her name while confirming it with the "Vote" button on the right.
- Allowing someone else to vote for you
In case you don´t feel like voting for Witnesses yourself or are simply too lazy to update your votes over time, then you may as well allow someone else to vote for you. To do so you have to scroll to the very bottom of the page, enter a name and confirm via "set proxy". After doing so you basically copy the votes of the Steemian you chose.
