On my periodic trawl through the news sites I found the following.
Steemit gets a short piece in the Toronto Star (Alexa rank 3316). It features Steemian and talks about the benefits of having a tradeable token. The same article appears on Gadgets 360 (Alexa rank 366, and 22 in India!).
There's a very short piece on Hade Platform (Alexa rank 1,035,312). Seems this site pays you in Ethereum for writing about financial matters, but I'd never heard of it before.
Steemit gets some coverage on Bitcoinist (Alexa rank 14,257) in a piece about blockchain based social sites. It's actually the only example the give. They say it has 61,000 active users, which seems about right.
I'm mentioning the Alexa rank of the various sites as it give some idea of how widely seen these articles will be. Steemit's own ranking is still soaring. Steemit entered the top 1000 worldwide last week and is already up to 935. I tend to look at Hypestat as that gives more stats than you can get for free directly from Alexa. There are some other web stats sites, but I've not found any that give daily updates.
Amongst the various countries the top few have falling ranks despite this growth. India is the rising star, but it could take over if even a few percent of the population get on board.
I really think this could be Steemit's year. If the team can deliver the new features they have been talking about then we are onto a winner. That said, software delivery dates are prone to slipping. These are things they have to get right. If you mess up a cryptocurrency then it can have serious consequences, but I think they are keeping the financial development separate to things like communities. There's lots of talk about SMT's, but I'm really not sure how that will go. It may be what the world is waiting for, but the current funding models for the internet will be hard to disrupt. I just think advertising doesn't scale.
We live in interesting times. Steem on!
I'll buy guitar picks for Steem Dollars
