Others do a good job of monitoring Steemit based on blockchain data (e.g. ). I think it's also important to get an idea of how Steemit is performing for general web users. Steemit posts rank well on Google, so we should be getting visits via that. This raises the profile of Steemit.
I've been using Hypestat which uses data from Alexa that monitors browsing of users who have their extension. They claim to have millions of users, so that should be enough to give some idea of trends.
Since mid-October the Steemit visitors and views have been falling, but the curve may be flattening out. It hit a peak Alexa ranking of around 9000, but is now over 16000. The views per visitor has generally been better than other sites, but is also dropping.
It's interesting to see which countries Steemit is doing well in. The US and UK have generally been up there, but Germany is dropping. Panama is an odd one as Steemit ranks really well there. Some have suggested that's due to a number of US ex-pats there.
This is from a few weeks ago.
This is from back in September. You can see that India was number 2, but has dropped a lot. I think this could be an important market due to the population size and also because what people might make there could make a significant difference in their lives. A few dollars might buy a coffee in the US or Europe, but in India it could buy a lot more. On sites like Tsu the earnings were based on advertising and views in India were worth a lot less than in the US. Steemit only cares about votes and SP. This gives local bloggers a real chance to make a good living.
I'm not an SEO or web marketing expert, just someone who is interested in the stats. I'm interested if you have any insight into where things could be going. I think Steemit could go viral if it can get some content creators on board who have a big following elsewhere and will sell the idea to their fanbase. I'm trying to get the message to some musicians out there who may be interested.
