For most of the time I've been using Steemit I've been monitoring how the site does on Hypestat and Alexa. I think these use a lot of the same data based on what people with the Alexa browser extension look at. They don't give the whole picture, but they show trends and the trend for Steemit is dramatically upwards. In the last two months it's gone from around 10,000th site in the world to the top 3,000 and tripled the number of daily visitors. I bet some advertisers would love to get on here, but we don't need them!
I'm not sure where the latest growth is as the local rank for the US and UK is actually falling. I haven't been monitoring all the countries, but I think Nigeria is on the rise and others may be too. Indonesia shows up further down than you would expect from the active Aceh community, but maybe they don't use Alexa so much. This is where these sort of stats can be lacking.
It's interesting to compare how Steemit is doing compared to a similar site. Minds is also a social site that has a way of paying users and has a similar rank, but Steemit has overtaken it. I have to say I've pretty much given up on using Minds as it doesn't do much for me.
Minds is on the right in these charts and seems to do better in terms of exposure across other sites. There's potential for Steemit to do better there if we share links with our friends who have yet to sign up. I do post links to G+, FB and Twtr and sometimes get responses. We just have to do it in a way that doesn't come off as spam.
Steemit has probably passed 300,000 accounts today. That's double what we had just three months ago. I'd like to see it at least double again by the end of the year. Each extra user exposes it to a potential wider audience of their friends. I just hope the team are ready for an avalanche of new users.
Steem on!
I'll buy guitar picks for Steem Dollars
