I've been tracking how the Steemit site has been doing for months and it's really racing up the Alexa rankings. Just a month ago it entered the top 10,000. Now it's in the top 5,000. It's much higher in certain countries. 1,399 in the US, 1,099 in the UK and 792 in South Korea. With so many sites out there these days this is significant.
The thousands of new users are having a real impact. We will be a quarter million strong very soon. It's going to be interesting to see how it transitions to a million and beyond. If the team can just automate the account validation we could see tens of thousands joining up each day. That's a real challenge to manage.
I noticed that some people are really trying to get everyone following them by doing the 'follow back' thing.
Steemwhales is behind as these accounts are now following 49,000 people each! They must have automated that process.
Well it isn't making them mega rich. You need the right people following and voting for you to make serious money. They are getting hundreds rather than thousands of votes, so this shows a follow does not necessarily mean much.
I maintain that quality is what counts. Stay true to yourself if you want to do well here in the long run.
I'll buy guitar picks for Steem Dollars
