I noticed that this post I did yesterday has amassed a lot of votes, but most of them are tiny. A lot of these people only have a few hundred SP, so their vote is equivalent to less than a new user. I did get a significant vote from whale hendrikdegrote, so I wonder if they are trying to cash in on that. Even so, the curation rewards would be practically zero. Even I rarely get more an 0.1 SBD curation rewards, but I tend not to vote 100% very often as I like to spread my votes.
I am grateful when people vote on my posts, but don't expect that I will look at what you do because of it. I judge people by their comments.
I would think that minnows would be better off strategically giving bigger votes to a few posts, but that still might not make them much. Give your votes to what you find good. They can make more from good comments. When I say 'good comments' I mean some that really relate to the post and add to the conversation. I get a lot that do neither of those.
I realise that a lot of these people are not native English speakers, but to get my attention they need to avoid things that look insincere. e.g.
- 'I wait for your next post'. Have you nothing else to do?
- 'This is a valuable post'. Well it's really just me posting about my life.
- 'Thanks for sharing'. Very generic. Everything we do here is sharing.
- Comments that ask about some aspect of the post that could be answered by clicking an included link.
- Echoing parts of the post back at me with nothing much added.
Some of these people are making hundreds of comments each day in hope of a vote. I really do recommend finding people who share your interests so you can have a real discussion with them rather than just trying to get a comment on every post out there. Just because I've built a high reputation does not mean I have time to respond to dozens of comments and I will tend to look at those either from people I already know or those what show that you are really interested in what I do. The rest are likely to be ignored and anything really spammy WILL be flagged.
I'm just a regular guy with not enough time :)
By the way, I see the Steemit Alexa rank is still falling. I really hope it can recover soon. It was in the top 1000 in March. It deserves to be up there again.
