I feel like steemit needs more features when it comes to how everything is organized here.
I think reddit still does an overall better job at aggregating information to the top. I feel like, all of the problems I have with steemit can be solved without having to make any big changes to the medium.
If I am not mistaken its possible for anyone to make a page that looks over the steemit blockchain.
I wonder if it makes sense to consider the idea of making an alternate steemit page that simply adds the features I would like to have here. For now I am going to just open up discussion on these ideas.
More options when it comes to organizing what I see on my feed.
- The ability to toggle what tags I see on my feed. (Think of it as a way to subscribe to tags)
- The ability to put people that I follow into custom lists that I can toggle visibility on.
- The ability toggle if I see resteems vs personal posts.
- The ability to sort posts based on earnings, chronological, most viewed and number of upvotes.
- The ability to see just people I am following vs the "front page"
Additional feature I have thought about for a long time.
- The ability to create channels (Very similar to sub-reddits but nobody is in charge of them, there will be no moderators.)
- Once a channel is created people can subscribe to that channel.
- Once you subscribe to a channel you will have the ability to apply a vote for that channel on any standard steemit post you desire.
- Once that vote is applied then anyone who sees the vote will have the ability to up or downvote that application. (Basically everyone has a chance to determine say how much that post belongs in that channel)
- When you look at a channel you will see all of the posts that have the highest upvotes for that channel.

I actually think that its entirely possible to make the above stuff happen just by using the existing functionality. the above things would go a super long way to making steemits content a lot more streamlined. I find it too difficult right now to really find the content that is relevant to me.
What do you guys think about this?
