On the upswing, in the dystopian future I see myself more as Eloi (even though we're delicious) living in the pseudo-utopian surface world and sustaining through community and cooperation.
The problem with the statement "the world as we know it is ripped out from under us" is that we wouldn't stand for that, no reasonable sane person would let that happen, and the elite know it.
In fact the world is not being ripped out from under us, it is being slowly dragged away as we are being quietly led to the edge of the cliff. It is being moved slowly and deliberately in the name of security, the common good, patriotism, and faith. It is being pulled so slowly that we, as a people, barely notice we've stepped off the edge of the cliff with no safety net.
What can we do about it? We can wake up! Wake each other up! Demand accountability for our governments and rulers! Pay attention to what look like small restrictions of our freedoms and look historically at how each has slowly grown more and more restrictive. As a people, we should decentralize, build communities and educate each other.
Steem on!
