I think most of us here try to have some originality and try to be conscientious in what we write and how we present ourselves. I believe this is one of the main ‘goals’ of Steemit.
On my way home from work this morning I was thinking about ‘what I should right about today?’ I had a very uneventful night at work. I’m kind of tired but nothing really came to mind. I do like I do everyday right after my husband leaves for work I post on Steemit. Sometimes I get inspired and type out, correct and double check things and post. I see who my new followers are and check on them to see if they’re ‘real.’ After reading a lot about what has been referred to as ‘shit content’ and some whales having issues. I’m just lurking to see how it all turns out. Some of it I get and some of it I don’t. I think that is mainly due to me still learning the ins and outs of the platform.
Like I said, I check out my new followers. One of them had a post that had been done in the past 24 hrs and the 1st response was from saying it got an upvote and it had found similar content and gave the link. So being the person I am, I checked out the link (which I always do). The story on the link is the same story that was posted to Steemit as someone’s original content. Was it exact? No a couple of paragraphs had been removed and different pictures were added than the original ones for the article. Other than that, what was posted was verbatim from this other article. So I have spent the last hour and half going through ‘etiquette’ looking at
,
and
pages to try to get an idea on what to do from here. If I downvote or comment, I feel it will open me up to be blown out of the water.
After a month and half and following some great advice, my reputation has started to grow and so have my followers. I’m starting to catch on how things are done. Through my ‘research’ this morning, I figured I am partially guilty of spam. I do use images, but try to make sure that they have the website sited on the picture, if not I try to add it when possible. I will definitely be more conscientious of this in the future. I just know from previous blogs, if you have a full page blog and don’t break it up a little bit; people won’t read the whole thing.
One of the things I have a big issue with is people ‘misusing the system’ for their own gain. As I have gotten older, I am not as passive as I used to be. You CAN’T fix things if no one knows their broken. I cannot stand watching people get ahead by cheating. I deal with people who commit Medicaid fraud on a daily basis. So my patience is a little thin in this area.
I just thought I would put this out there to see if anyone has suggestions on what to do. I’ll let it go and not worry about it again.
