This is how steemit was introduced in the media in Korea. I tend to become addicted to what I have interest in, so I cannot escape from this site although I have a lot of work to do. I usually play Go after work at home, but now I am enjoying myself here. Due to the internet, I can hang around alone at home doing various things and blogging is one of the activities.
Today's Title is "Are you sure that steemit will succeed?" After about 10-day activities, I feel some negative aspects of this service.
Steemit is a social network service system based on cryptocurrency using blockchain technology. I feel ashamed of not knowing the word cryptocurrency. I had little time to have interest in this. Anyway, steemit provides its users with the currency, especially contents providers and it let the users decide who can get the money.
But the steempower is involved in the decision making process. The problem begins with this. Users can buy steempower by cash and the system aims at maintaining and increasing the value of its currency. The problem is people tend to vote according to the steempower. The Guide to steemit explained that strong whales will follow the trend of people, but another problem is, too.
Good contents should be listed first, but the system is not valid to decided it. Actually, big steempower decides it. Although if more and more whales participate and communicate with people, the problem will be solved, now it is the problem. That's why people argue over who should get the votes and to whom they should give votes. However, another problem begins, too.
Who decides good quality contents? Different people have different perspectives. I reblogged a woman's writing. She translated her writing into English by using a king of translating program and uploaded her photo. She got some votes. What if a celebrity comes? I do not intend to criticize the writing. Rather, I think this kind of post may be sometimes a good content. If everyone thinks that a quality writing should take a long time and a lot of efforts, steemit cannot be a universal social network service. It is the weak point. Everyone will escape from this site for fear that people will criticize their easy money.
Of course, I understand that good quality contents will be passed easily because a lot of contents flood and the rewards should be given within seven days. Therefore I think that a better reward system is needed for good contents for people to view again and again.
Steemit has some limits. Individuals have their limits in making good quality contents. Isn't it better for existing companies and such entities to come to this site? People should be able to upload a video more easily, watch news , etc. The community whose members are all eager for money has limits.
I think steemit has an innovative service. I praise it. However, it should compete with other social media. The inconvenient system to upload a video or photos and the unfair reward system should be improved. Of course, I have no right to demand these things. I expect. that the people who made this service have some ideals and plans that I have not realized.
But I do not want to praise steemit more than it deserves. The idea of giving rewards to its users is fantastic. However, steemit should consider the production and rewards of contents and the quality and quantity of them.
I do not admit its merits. Steemit motivates people to write. It is similar to me whether to blog here or on other sites. However, the result is different, especially in Korea. Blogging on Naver is better in Korea, now. I do not demand something here and I earnestly hope steemit will succeed.
Steemit will succeed but it takes some time. The contents steemit want may be the contents made by individuals. However, it has some limits for more people to participate more eagerly.
The answer for its users is either to participate in the steemit community moderately and wish for the success of steemit or to invest eagerly, tell people about the service, and suggest constructive opinions for the platform to be a better one. Users should think of their positions.
Do I want too many things here? Maybe. Somebody may say like this
Haven't you seen any service provider which gives more rewards than steemit? You must be disappointed with your rewards compared with others!
I think it is right in some way. Then, the problems may be small things. Anyway, I just mention what comes to my mind today. I hope all my friends here enjoy their lives day by day. Let's go for it!! For English speakers, I will rewrite the above passage later. Bye!!
