As you may be aware already, votes on Steemit now count for much more than they did previously - meaning that every time you vote, you will be gifting the recipient much more than previously was the case. These are exciting times then, but there's a limit to the fun.. You only have so much voting power and every time you vote, you decrease the voting power. Here I will show you how to manage the situation as you prefer.
Vote Power
This was described by the creators of Steemit as being able to be visualised as a swimming pool that is constantly being rained on. The water is your vote power and as you take buckets of water from the pool, the power/water decreases - however, it is constantly being replenished by the rain (or in the case of votes by the steem system itself as it gives you more vote power at a slow rate throughout the day).
Now that your votes will each use up significantly more vote power than they did previously, you need to be more careful about what you vote on, otherwise you run the risk of running out of vote power.
The solution
The best way I know of to keep track of this is to visit the website http://steem.cool and then enter in your username. There you will be able to see your current vote power and also your current reputation level in a more precise way than usual. This way you can quickly check to see how much vote power you have left at any time.
Voting on steemit is now a much more powerful way of supporting the content creators you love and who help the world - let's do this!
