I have just spent some considerable time to craft a response to , but (as usual!) ended up with a wall of text that would be inconsiderate to post on his blog. Accordingly, as is my wont, I am moving my response to a post on my own blog, and linking to it there, and to his here.
Here's my comment to his post:
I reckon education is largely useless. While there are some police institutions that still maintain their raison d'etre, most have been turned into military forces trained and equipped to be used against citizens/civilians, rather than facing opposing military forces.
They are not unaware of this.
'Good' cops don't remain in such jurisdictions, or, if they do, they either do so with the intention of potentiating counter-terror ops against government forces, or are incapable of recognizing what is happening (in which case they're not much good).
Trying to demilitarize police forces is similarly pointless, as such militarization by federal, state, and local government has not been undertaken absent either intent to create such civilian control force, simply being corrupt and not caring, or, again, being incapable of understanding.

A better goal of such spending would be to build bridges across the cultural divide (although the endemic racism of BLM communities precludes the possiblity of this, IMHO), developing intracommunity defense mechanisms against such forces (counter intelligence, underground railroad, etc...), and, most important and useful of all, means of rendering government obsolete by effecting the purposes for which government has assumed power to monopolize, through other, voluntary, institutions.
I expect there is no move being conducted to achieve the latter goal within that community, as I doubt they can even conceive of it being a good idea, while the prior two are certainly already being undertaken.
Education is useless in countering willful intent to commit oppression, and begging the overlords to be nicer is just utterly abject, and insipid.
The DOJ has begun dismantling it's program that allowed police forces that sought to de-escalate militarization and counter civilian operations, and for reason. Such de-escalation is contrary to the present implementation of the long term plan for social control and government assumption of tyrannical power in the face of technological evolution empowering free people.
Oppression is the only card oligarchs can play in the current developmental stage of technology potentiating distribution of wealth, via cryptocurrencies, the means of production, via additive manufacturing (desktop 3D printing, etc.),rejection of propaganda via the wholly owned media (using alternative media, such as Steemit), and blatant election/government collusion and fraud, and retain their wealth and power.
It is disingenuous to fail to recognize that these things (militarization of police, mass surveillance, propaganda, and censorship, eradication of the middle class, indoctrination in lieu of education, etc., ad nauseam) aren't just happening because line officers are poorly trained. All these things are happening in a coordinated fashion, that multiplies the effectiveness of each feature of tyrannical, police-state tactics, because there is a plan, and it is being followed, on purpose.
Cultural entities that have been focused on racial division for decades, trained for generations to rely on government handouts rather than personal abilities, and deliberately victimized in order to foment riotous rage, have been forged as weapons by skillful organizations using mechanisms developed over centuries of experience. In addition to the poisoning of the population with endocrine disrupting chemicals, these groups will remain tools of Hegelian Dialectic divide and conquer tactics ( ) employed by oligarchs throughout historical times, and across the globe.

We're just in line for our turn, now that the Middle East is becoming played out. Maybe Venezuela and North Korea will precede America and Europe into the abyss of war and disintegration, or maybe they will prove to be the initiators of that assault on the West.
Doesn't matter.
What does matter is obviating government monopolization of the means of production, information and communications, wealth, and force, and their concentration in the hands of the oligarchical hierarchy. If we fail to do that, we are doomed.
Steemit is one mechanism that does almost all those things, or potentiates them, today. About all it doesn't further directly is force, and additive manufacturing. While Steemit remains utterly vulnerable to Sybil attack (through merely buying Steem, and voting in new witnesses, or corrupting current ones. Zuckerberg, Soros, or similar parties could take over Steemit with little more than lunch money, for them), it is the best shot we have to coordinate resistance to tyranny and oppression being accelerated today.
This is why I have so strongly advocated for removing the centralizing attack vector (weighting VP by SP alone), and (realizing that the mined stakes of Steem the Steemit oligarchs possess are the stakes such Sybil attacks would need to purchase, and that this is a Golden Parachute for those stakeholders, which might be considered to be a feature, rather than a flaw, by pragmatic and cynical parties), also encouraged development of forks, and similar platforms.
I don't expect Steemit to fix this. Those with the ability to fix it have too much to gain from these 'features'. In my discussion with witnesses, developers, and even himself, who assured me that he would address these issues soon, I have found little encouragement. We'll see if these issues are addressed before SMT rollout.
We have little time left. Make the best of it.
