I introduced someone to Steemit and after a month and three posts, they told me it was too hard. I told them "You're an idiot."
Then I started thinking about it... Is Steemit too hard for new people?

After a lot of careful deliberation I have decided that it depends...
If a person is coming here with the expectation of making a lot of money or with the expectation on growing their account easily to be worth tens of thousands of dollars, then they will be disappointed. It will be too hard for them because their expectations will be unrealistic. They get here and only make a few cents on their first post, and they start doing the math... and it doesn't look good. Steemit is not a place for people to get rich quick... not at all.
It is important that when we invite people here, we tell them about honest expectations. There are some who have grown quick, but they devoted every waking hour to this platform.
If someone joins the site and has the gratitude that they can get paid to make the same content they are producing other places for free, then things change a little. Then the person is grateful for everything they make and will likely be a regular user of the platform.
Then there are those that see the long-term potential of the site and want to be apart of it... at whatever cost. I'm in this group. I see what Steemit could be one day and the value is beyond monetary. There is a possibility that in a couple of years I could be a full time Steemonian and that really drives me to post daily and engage.
It is the people that see the long-term vision that don't worry if it is too hard. The long-term rewards far outweighs the effort it takes to start.
I started at zero like everyone else, and have put in countless hours into creating blogs and commenting and interacting with the community. I love it. It has taken me over 7 months to get to 59 reputation and 900 Steem power, but I did it from scratch. You can too.
It will take a while and it is hard. Maybe too hard for some people, but that depends on where your mindset is and how you perceive the benefits of Steemit. If it wasn't hard, everyone would do it and look how that turned out for Facebook. I like that it is hard, it takes work and there is a sense of accomplishment every time I look at my wallet. Put in the work and get past the hard phase, your future self will thank you.
Do you think Steemit is too hard for new minnows?
