The value of STEEM dropped below a $1.00 and all of a sudden... a massive Purge has begun. Will you survive the night?
The authenticity of the Steemit community is the most valuable asset we all have. A melting pot of artists, writers, readers, learners, teachers and preachers. A wonderful collection of like minded people that share similar ambitions. A truly unique place and that is why this "purge" may be the best thing that could happen to us.
Steemit grew very quickly in the month of June and almost all of us were introduced because of the incredible rise the values of cryptocurrency. Crypto and Steemit saw a huge influx of people. All the people that bought into crypto and Steemit fall into one of two categories.
1. People looking to get into crypto and Steemit for the long-run because they see them as a growing and valuable part of the future. A long-term investment.
2. People looking to make a quick buck and think they would be driving Lambos by the end of the summer and making posts worth $1,000 each by the end of the month.
With the value dropping over 50% since the month all these new people joined, if they are just for the money, then they are not going to be as active. Those are also the people that don't provide a lot of value when they comment and post. They try to post what they think will make them money instead of thinking about what will add value to the reader.
I have a perfect example... the only time I've been flagged was by a person that came on my post and had some harsh words about part of my funny gif post. I was nice and replied and proved how the person was wrong. I was then told that I should wait a couple of months when they would be running Steemit and turn it into a fashion blogging site.
Of course I offered my opinion why that would not happen and I got flagged and the person stopped interacting. Today I went back to that post and clicked the profile and they have not posted in over a week. That was a person here for the quick buck and unrealistic goals and they are not active anymore.
When people like that leave, it is best for the community anyway. I imagine moving forward we will see spikes and large influxes of people over a month or so, and then many will leave in the dips. It doesn't matter, the best ones end up staying because they see longterm value.
When quality members are committed to the longterm success of Steemit, then our community will only get better and grow at a manageable rate.
I am one of those that joined in June and I am here for the long-run because I see the value of the community and over the course of a year or two, my wallet value will be up as well.
Don't worry about the purge... we'll survive and it will be better on the other side.

Let me know what you think about the Steemit Purge and if you agree this could be the best thing that could have happened right now. If you disagree, cool, let's have a discussion.
To my followers, you are the cheese to my pizza! You all rock.
