It is like a fighting game. If you go to steemd.com/@(yourname) you can see a bunch of stats for your account. Most of them are just a bunch of numbers that you will probably just stare at but near the top of the page you have your voting weight, your voting power percentage and the bandwidth that you have left. I will be honest I did not know bandwidth was an issue for new accounts until recently. They have the numbers but they also have colorful meter too.
Knowing your voting power is useful if you want to make the most out of your account on a daily basis. Every time that you vote you lose 2% of your voting power. But it goes up 20% a day, so that is why you can vote 10 times a day at, around, full power. If you go passed that your vote is worth less. This is why, when you vote, your vote may worth different amounts each time. Make sure you use your 10 votes so you are not 'wasting it' and I recommend filling it back up if you get too low. But if you do not care about it, just vote whenever you want to and ignore it.
Check it out for your name.
What is your voting power at this moment?
Mine is 87.07%
