There is indeed massive wealth disparity in the Steem Ecosystem. The same issue exists in every single market throughout the world. If anyone knows examples of where such wealth disparity doesn't exist in markets - let me know as I would be curious to research such points.
I've had personal experiences with peers in my social networks over the last few years on Bitcoin, Ethereum and Steem. A pattern that has repeated itself is the basic logic of most people. That Being:
"It's too Late...There's already people who have so much more....If only I could have picked it up sooner."
And,
"But what if it completely crashes and I lose everything...it's totally possible that this thing could fail...and I will be at a loss."
I'm not suggesting that anyone treat investments as All in or Nothing - though I do think that approach has a lot of merit and takes real cajones from the perspective of making strong plays. Fortune favors the Bold.
What is interesting about the psychology of the masses is that things are mostly in reverse. Notice the emphasis in regards to "loss". The way of looking at things is not from a starting point of creation and or potential. It's coming from a starting point of being most concerned about "misfortune" and it being "too late". There's a victim mentality here. It's rationalized and justified as making sense. It's short sighted.
That Being said, It is in the best interest of Big Steem Holders to support as many people in the Steem Ecosystem as possible. Why:
word of mouth advertising is the best form of marketing
- The more people are supported and regarded in the ecosystem - the greater the overall potential. It's common sense.
It takes a village to raise a child
That Being said, daring to make an effort by putting skin in the game goes a long way in terms of legitimizing one self as serious about the platform and placing a vote in favor of the platform. A little goes a long way.
I think for the future to play out in a way that it is great - it requires a paradigm shift - a more holistic approach. Going beyond the judgment of money and actually making the efforts to work/play together as people. People is the real investment and value of the platform here.
Those with the most skin in the game also have the most to lose and thus, the strongest incentive to really exercise strong long term plays and leadership. The irony and the challenge is to strike the best balance with the practicality of planning in the short term and the medium term without losing sight of the real Big picture - long term plan. Though it's important to note - the long term development and maturity is a result of establishing strong networking plays in the short term and the medium term.
