Who, What, When, How... but Why?
The answers to the questions who what when how and why total everything we seek to know about something or someone. They give us factual quantifiable information that we can discover through scientific testing and research. But Why you may ask.
The question why is not always so easy, the answer to why is to understand the rationale or reason behind the fact, behind someone doing something. Often why questions address the imponderable questions about our lives or the universe, Why do we exist? Why do the people I love have to get "insert terrible disease"? Why is the universe the way it is? The heavy hitter questions, the lets make ourselves sad thinking about the futility and briefness of our existence questions.
Often the answers to these questions lead to even more deeper "why" questions. If the answer to why terrible diseases is genetics then we ask why are we governed by genetics? "why" questions are often riddles, wrapped in mysteries, wrapped inside enigmas.
" I cannot forecast to you the action of Russia. It is a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma; but perhaps there is a key. That key is Russian national interest " ~ Winston Churchill
Being the curious creatures we are that insatiable hunger for information will always make us ask the why questions especially when they affect our lives or of the ones we love. Don't ask me "why" we have such a desire to know "why". I don't know ...why.
What are some of your favourite "Why" questions? What are your go to topics when your faded with friends?
