Quest to freedom…
After the birth of our motherland Zimbabwe. Our joy illuminated since we writers in Zimbabwe would regain our voice to murmur again. What our eyes and hearts gulped down in the paths of sorrow spelt emancipation against inexplicable gagging experiences. The dark era of blood and sadness of loss had bred hate and dejected hearts. Things have not been well over the dark years of long wars.
Awakening…
Polarisation of expression forced the birth of a transverse wave of resistance through our own young men and women like Dambudzo Marechera whose great works like “House of hunger” and “Black Insider” will never snuff. Never understood by the community for failing to forego recluse he sleeps in the clouds as our hero. Our teary eyes began to open and see away darkness. Zimbabwean authors rose as an icon of black recognition and disruptive reasoning. Latent “cast” imbalances have grown strong tentacles till today: tough to break and protect the down trodden. Marechera’s exclusions, expulsions and injustices booted him and littered his way till his death. Until now, his work stands in our archives as a symbol of hope, liberty and undying resurgence. Such introspective sense of deductive thinking by our young men and women sprouted voices of emancipation. Education was now an option for the weak which grew our wings of strength such that legends like Dambudzo Marechera, Charles Mungoshi,Patrick Chakaipa, Shimmer Chinodya, Chenjerai Hove, Aaron Chiwundura moyo, T.K Tsodzo, Tsitsi Dangarembga etc had exceptional reflections in titles like “Coming of the dry season”, “Waiting for the rain”, “Nervous Conditions” etc.
The Enemy…
Little did we know that tough times lay ahead. Narrations of discrimination, gender violence and poverty is always mirrored in their work shining images of our silently ridden society. Until today the default status of such unethical rites is our societal menace. Poverty’s ugly head is causing a violation of the copyright laws in our streets and country. Author’s work is being replicated and sold without a dime rewarded to the originators.
True Legacy…
Upon such strong foundations and backdrop of our fore-fathers and mothers we uncap our pens again and continue wetting binary parchments with the ink of freedom. So sad and joyful is our success being built on the blockchain for unknown generations to see and hear our story carved on the digital architecture and archives of life forever.
Ray Of Hope…
Thanks to Steemit ,for today Steemit Zimbabwe has been born. A pen is mightier than a gun. In a week, we have managed to unite and help each other to build our work on the blockchain and tell our story as Africa. We have been a lost generation of unknown identities, the faceless ones but today we celebrate with Steemit Zimbabwe fans to come as we unite to author our future. We have started discussing on a small chat. Whatsapp me and join the walk to freedom +263773811601 .More Zimbabwean steemers are relating to our causes. We shall define our work in English Ndebele, Shona, Venda, Kalanga Korekore, Ndau, Manyika, Zezuru as the vanguard of our era .Our quilts shall not dry…To be continued.
