. they inform about a product or service
. ads have to command attention
. they should showcase the benefits of a product or service
. ads may convince or persuade but that is not their core aim
. Ads should call for action

Outcomes of ads is that people become aware of the products and buy them. Advertisers normally cash on this theory and offer ads service. Anybody who wants to advertise normally has to pay to run an advertisement. It so happens that the internet flocks with such advertisements a fact that is not entertained in steemit. Many companies offer advertising services including Google Adsense.

So it happens that most writing sites run ads. The ads vary from a single click to a double click advertisements. We have pop-ups, memes and gif advertisements. These ads are normally a source of income to advertising companies and contributers of content. Çompanies or sites like Bubblews went under because they depended on loyalties from ads. They promised their members much money than they received from ads and had just to close doors.
Mostly ads are problematic and a nuissance to the users but have to keep up with them as they are an earning avenue. Some ads do not adhere to morals and ethics and at times display nude images despite the different range of viewers. Pop ups may also interfere with your work. They keep on popping up like popcorns and hinder your work progress Google Adsense also proved hard to get. Approving one was a nightmare to many content writers.
