With the welfare of their children at heart, parents can only hope for a bright tomorrow.
In fact, immediately after the children are born, a couple has already wonderful plans for them. “I want our son to become a lawyer-the best ever in his trade,” a father quips mater-of-factly. “Our daughter shall be as famous a doctor as she is beautiful,” a mother equally beams with pride as she looks into the innocent eyes of her new born.
Dreaming of a bright tomorrow is not only for the affluent, for even slum dwellers and farmhands see in their children a way out of what they think as a deplorable condition they are in. “No more plows for my son,” a father tells his bosom friend, also a farmer as he stares at the palm of his hands thick with corns and sun-browned from long years of toil.
Life is not always a bed of roses so to speak. And even if it were for those born with a silver spoon in their mouths, the fact is that roses are not exclusively made of petals. Thorns also abound and they can make one’s palms bleed. Life’s realities are such that they may in fact be too much for one to bear. Therefore, one ought not to take life for granted but must give it a serious thought. It would do well for the youth to be wise to prepare for any eventuality by giving a serious thoughts to the way people live.
In order to have a good future, our parents teach us to have reverence to God and must not envious of sinful people. Indeed, a bright future awaits to those who love God, who hate evil and walk in the way he wants them to go.
