When going gets tough, the tough get going.
This is Local train railway platform. Life line of Mumbai
Meet the unsung heroes who helped people on a rainy Mumbai day.Hats off to their efforts.
Mumbaikars on 29 th August were filled with panic as incessant rain flooded several parts of the city.
The rains were followed by water clogging, lack of Power.suspended trains and flights.
Roads jammed with traffic No Cab. Leaving the city helpless.
But whats commendable is the help that poured in from all the directions.
To pull the city out of the crisis. Here are some of the unsung heroes from Mumbai…Who were altruistic enough to come to the rescue.
The sikh community has always been lionised
For being generous enough to help whenever the world went into crisis
Along the same line gurudwara across Mumbai offered food and shelter to those who were stranded.
Meanwhile certain mumbaikars shared an excel sheet online.
That has more than 5000 people sharing their addresses and contact numbers. For those who needed help in a time where
Roads were clogged with barely any vehicles in sight.
Cab services offered free shuttle to people. Also thousands were left abandoned on the railway stations with no food and water.
Indian railways came to their rescue, assisting anyone in need.
Then there were the indian navy who generously offered breakfast and tea to people at CSMT station.
People who reached home safely did not just sit home to watch others suffer.
They took it to streets to offer biscuits and other items in nearby areas.
Fire Brigade Personnel rescued passengers stranded in local trains.
Helping people who were stuck in the train and safely took them to shelter
Mumbaikars showed that despite being in a crisis. You can always lend a helping hand.
I recall in 2005 just a few months after the july floods there was a similar diasaster in the U.S. New Orleans .and people there behaved no better than animals, looting and generally rampaging homes .what contrasting behavior in similar circumstances between the people of india and U.S.
This rainy day there was no Christian no hindu and no muslim .There were no political parties no religious mandals no hidden agendas and no publicity. There were only human beings reaching out to help other human beings in neede –helping and guiding ,distributing free food ,water etc.we don’t need the floods once again in our city but we want this miracle to happen daily .we want the warmth in our hearts that was generated due to the heavy rains to remain forever in order to keep alive the true spirit of MUMBAI
No one cared for religion or cast in such situation .All temples, church, gurudwara ,ganpati mandals are open for all. These helping hands that came forward are of common man and not polticians
Salute to real unity of human beings
Jai Hind.
