Teachers are special individuals with some really cool abilities. However, I think many would agree with me that we need some really cool Force abilities. The force abilities from Star Wars would really come in handy in a myriad of situations. Although I would love to have all the possible force abilities, I have a few that would definitely come in handy in my everyday work.
Jedi Mind Trick
The Jedi Mind Trick works with the practitioner being able to bend people to his or her will. I for one would love to have this ability in controlling a rowdy classroom. Imagine entering into a class and finding all 45 students making a whole lot of noise. Now imagine if I were to raise my hand and with the powers of the force, and ask the class to quiet down and they all quiet down immediately, all complying to my every word and command.
The possibilities are endless! I would no longer have to spend time convincing each of my students to do their homework. I would be able to get more done, more activities completed. If I ask my minions students to sit, they will and if I ask them to study, they will...(cue evil laughter). The best thing is, none of them would even complain. Speaking of work, I would no longer have to do all those pesky administrative duties. Every semester, I would have to complete thick folders of evidence showing that I have been doing my work. Well, no more!
All I have to do is to convince my boss that the empty folder is actually full using my force powers. The folders are also audited and those auditors will not be able to resist my mind trick.
Force Speed
Of course, if my mind trick does fail, I do need to speed up and complete all my tasks. Force speed would come in handy in this case. Imagine using force speed to mark all 45 students' essays in 10 minutes. For some reason, classrooms are so far apart and we are required to sprint run from one class to the other. Force speed will also come in handy when running from one class to the other.
Come to think about it, I have coffee which has a similar effect to force speed. I do mark faster after two shots of espresso. Furthermore, I do run around quicker with coffee but it comes with its effects once the caffeine wears off.
Force Lightning
Force lightning is the next force power I would like to have. No, I'm not going to shoot lightning bolts at my students. Although, I think one or two of them would need a little jolt since they fall asleep in class so much. No, I need force lightning to power some of my electrical equipment.
There are some days where I have prepared a lesson with videos and powerpoint slides, only to have the electricity cut halfway through the class. With force lightning, I should be able to teach with one hand and power the laptop and LCD projector with the other while shouting:
Conclusion
Aside from these force powers, I think a lightsaber would definitely come in handy too. It would be cool to do arts and craft with a lightsaber instead of a scissors. I hope you enjoy this post. What force powers would you like to have in your line of work? Do let me know in the comments below.
