Luan woke up and had been dreaming about his grandfather who told him how they rode a horse to school.
He lay there thinking that must have been very nice. When he finished dressing and brushing his teeth he went to say good morning to them all.
It was so nice to have them for a visit as they usually come for one day and then go home, but this time they were sleeping over for a few days.
In the kitchen where everyone was sitting he got his breakfast from his mother and said to his grandfather, how did you learn to ride a horse.
I have never been on one and I am sure I will fall off. His grandfather laughed and said, we did fall off a lot before we were able to ride but everything takes practice.
You have so many farms here, are there no riding schools here where you can go.
I really do not know, we will have to ask mother to find out that would be wonderful.
They ate and his mother started looking in the telephone book to find out if there was a riding school. There is one not very far from us; I cannot believe that I have never noticed.
Grandfather said, phone them and find out how it works.
They said to come there as they wanted to see Luan first and see what he needed to learn. Oh will you take me, even if it is just to see the horses. Grandpa I do love animals so much, and horses are not wild are they, they will like me.
Then his grandfather told him that there are many wild horses, they live in groups and run wild, sometimes they are caught and trained, but they are always the most beautiful horses. Let us go to the farm and go and see the horses and you decide what you want to do.
They drove to the farm and the people were very kind. It really looked a lot different to the farms that Luan had seen before they were all vegetable and corn farms. This was so open and there were many fields, there was even a girl who riding a horse, he was so interested and could not stop watching her as there was a baby with them walking beside them.
When they got to the farmhouse the lady said, let me go and show you where the horses live Luan, they all have their own stall and they know exactly which one is theirs.
Horses are very clever and some of them even learn to do tricks and compete in competitions.
There are so many things we can learn from horses you will not believe it. But if you do have a horse you have to look after it very well. It has to get the right food as well as exercise; after they have done their exercise you must brush your horse and make him comfortable.
Luan felt like he was in another world as he was use to the forest and the trees. Here everything was open and the horses were walking around eating grass and they all looked happy to Luan. Luan told the lady that his grandfather went to school on horseback, and he thinks it is fantastic. Yes years ago our parents did not take us to school, as there were a lot of small schools with a teacher and that is why we could go by horse. There were no cars driving around scaring the horses and every child looked after their own horse.
Luan's grandfather asked if there was room for him to learn to ride a horse. The lady said yes but he must come and practice every second day.
His grandfather said, we will ask his mother and if she said it was possible, he would pay for the training as a birthday present for Luan.
Oh thank you so much, I would love that but mother must first decide if she will have time to bring me.
It was a wonderful gift from his grandfather and they went home to ask his mother.
Hope you enjoyed my story and have a wonderful day.
