Today we are going to do something else as I just saw this on the science channel, and found it most interesting.

The blue whale is the largest animal on earth, and it does not really have a true habitat, that is why we were so surprised to see the first blue whale in the red sea today.
It does seem as if it the first time that a blue whale has entered the red sea. I am putting a video in here to show you how beautiful it looks, and will then tell you a little more about the blue whale.

The blue whale is the largest animal on earth yet it eats the smallest animals on earth called krill. Krill is like little shrimps and very small they can eat up to 36 000 kg of krill a day. That is a lot but they are very big and they can swim up to 8 km per hour. Blue whales can go down as far as 500 metres to find food but they must come up to the surface to breathe. They do this by exhaling up to 9meters of water through their blow hole.

Unfortunately they are killed by big boats and some sharks.
The whale mother has only one baby every three years and is helped by other mothers to push the baby out of the water to take its first breath.
Mothers have to wait at least 11 months for their babies to born and when they are born they can be up to 8 meters long. They drink from their mother up to 600 litres of milk a day.
They grow up to 90 kg a day can you believe it most people don’t weigh that much in a lifetime.
They communicate with some sounds that we cannot hear but can reach each other up to 1 600 km far.
Blue whales don’t normally go in groups and prefer to go in pairs. They say they have emotional feeling as there is a story of a blue whale that was caught up in a lot of rope. She could hardly move and a group of divers went down to cut the rope lose.
They were really taking a chance as one hit of the tail of the blue whale could kill any human. They say the whale did just watch them all the time and after they had finished the whale gave them each a nudge as if to thank them.
They are on the endangered species list as they were hunted in the 1900 for their oil, there are they think only 10,000 – 20,000 left but they are starting to pick up slowly again.
