Hey everyone, I'm posting this to ask for help with a college class I'm taking. The class is called Topics in Education where we are discussing issues that teacher's face with administrators and in classrooms. One of the projects for my class is I have to interview or give a questionnaire to four people to help discuss a topic of my choosing.
The topic I have chosen is bullying, different interventions for bullying, and whether or not schools successfully deal with this problem. This is where I want to ask for your help. I need four volunteers who would be willing to discuss this topic with me, either in a discord interview or by typing out your thoughts into a questionnaire. You don't have to be a teacher or a parent to participate. I think it would be interesting to talk about this subject with different people in different places around the world.
What the interview/questionnaire requires:
I have five main questions to ask about the topic of bullying so it won't take up much of your time. The questions won't be hard and I'll provide you with some background information to help you answer them. I'd need to have the interview/questionnaire done by April 8th. The reason I'm asking for volunteers on Steemit is 1) I think it would be interesting to hear about bullying from people who live in different places in the world, and 2) Since having a baby and working on schoolwork all the time my social circle has gotten quite small. :)
To fulfill the requirements of my class I will write a research paper incorporating your responses with my own research. I'm writing a literature review and will have scholarly sources discussing the topic of bullying that may be interesting to read. At the end of the semester after I've received my final grade I will give each of you a copy of my paper. As long as you don't plagiarize my work you are welcome to use my research to write a Steemit article. If you choose to have a discord discussion with me on the topic you are also welcome to use that to write a Steemit article. I'll tell you a bit about bullying where I live to help give you material if you want it since I won't be including my own culture in the paper.
A Little About Bullying
A bully is defined as someone who "uses superior strength or influence to intimidate (someone), typically to force him or her to do what one wants." - dictionary definition.
In the United States this is a huge topic of discussion. In modern society the repercussions to children bullying and getting bullied is an important issue and schools all over the U.S. are developing programs and teaching methods to prevent bullying.
Regularly, when I read the news, bullying is a topic I read about. Children committing suicide because they were bullied is a tragedy to see but I read a news story every few weeks about this happening. Children bullied by others suffer from low-self esteem, depression, suicidal tenancies, fear, and other negative emotions/psychological states. Kids who bully others may suffer from abuse in their home, psychological issues, act out in aggression due to traumatic events, or for other reasons.
Here in the U.S because of high profile media coverage on school shootings, child suicides, and other sad topics, bullying is something many parents, teachers, and administrators are concerned about. Where I live it is a big concern. Recently, we had a student who was bullied threatening to bring a gun to school to shoot his bullies. Social media is a haven for online bullying and relatives of mine have dealt with online bullies. For me as a parent, I'm very worried about sending my daughter to public school anymore and am considering homeschooling. Bullying is a big issue and it is an interesting topic to discuss to hear different experiences and perspectives.
