Hi friends how are you, today I come to talk about the Anacardium occidentale, also known as cajú, anacardo, castaña de cajú, marañón, caguil o merey is a tree native to the Amazon region of northeast Brazil, southeast Venezuela and part of Colombia and Peru.
Merey is one of the healthiest seeds on the planet. Studies have shown that they are capable of killing Gram positive bacteria, which is linked to severe caries, tuberculosis, acne, pneumonia, strep throat and even leprosy. Anacardian chemicals from merey attack these bacteria.
The bark of the yellow merey, is used to make gargaras for tonsillitis (inflammation of the tonsils)The cooked crust is also used in tea for upset stomach, colic. or liquid stools (diarrhea)
The shell of the seed is used to make bio fuel, also the recine or oil is used to make insecticides. In my country Venezuela aborigines, use the seeds to consume and sell them to make monetary income, just like the fruit is used to make jam-type sweets and dried dried fruit
