Still Fumbling Around

Am I the only lost person on this platform or do I have others that are just as clueless about the way Steemit works than I am.I read this post about steem power and from the information I read it occurred to me that you can actually run out of it. I didn't know that but I have noticed my very first upvote is a lot. After the first upvote, everything is $0.01 after that.

I am aware that I am new and have barely any power. Is there something I can do to build my power ultimately building my rewards? I am asking the #steemit community because I am trying to understand how to use this platform effectively. I heard that #upvoting, commenting and #resteeming others is essential. Is this true? Please comment below to help my understanding. What is curation and how do I get some? I have many questions. Thank you steemit community because you guys are something special.
