I was nominated the other day by and then tonight by
. When wolfhart nominated me I decided I would only do it if a second nomination came. I don't really like doing these kinds of games but, in the interest of community spirit... Blab, blah, blah ;)
The Rules:
- Tell us in a post how you chose the current Steemit username you have. The story behind it.
- Tell us your real name!
- If you could change your current username, which name would you choose and why? If you have a possible usernames list, mention it!
- Use the tag #steemitnamechallenge so that I can track all the posts and check them out
- Nominate 5 people for this challenge
How I chose it
Well how I chose it was a very long and complicated journey that took me across rivers, deserts and through many a dark cave where eventually, far atop a mountain that overlooked what once was known as Shangri-la, I had an epiphany. It was a moment of clarity so pure that divinity itself must have played a hand in its creation. Yeah, I used my real name. The KP are my initials.
My real name? Are you serious?
So yes, my real name is Taraz which is technically not a name at all, it is a word. There is a Russia based name 'Taras' which is similar but as far as I know, unrelated. I have never met another Taraz but I have met a Taras.
As said though, it is a word not a name and it is Persian for ornament, or at least, something very similar. There is more to that story but not for now. But, I actually have 2 middle names also, the first is Johann and goes together with my given name. Johann is a form of John, which means, God is Merciful. So, I am technically: The ornament of God is merciful. Perhaps, I am poorly named or, perhaps this is merciful me.
If I could change it and why.
I wouldn't change my real name, there are lots of benefits to have a weird name, some drawbacks but, more benefits. However, if I had known more about Steemit before joining, I would have likely been a little more anonymous. I would have likely chosen minorityofone. The reason is that all new ideas that have changed the world have started from one person and slowly developed into something much greater, even if that person is no longer remembered.
I would choose it for myself not because my ideas would change the world but, I have many, many ideas and often they tend to be outside of the group averages, outliers or a little bit before the majority. I have explained the reason I can do this before but generally it is because I have a very wide interest area and listen and observe a lot.
Nominating 5 people
I hate nominating people for challenges. It puts a social obligation on them and forces them to perhaps do something they might not want to do.
So, here are my 5:
- for obliging me to give to charity 3 days in a row (yet to do).
- because she once nominated me for one of these silly things and guilted me into doing it. How'd that end again?
- because, really? I imagine he has 15.036 SP and autovotes at 1 minute on Trending posts.
- because he obviously struggles for content and this might be his best post idea this year.
- because he is a numbers guy but doesn't seem to have thought too long and hard about that series.
Oh, the picture is of me doing what I love to do, taking naps. My daughter is in the picture also.
