So, why Fergus?
I am a pretty big fan of Irish music and culture, and when I was reading the stories of The Ulster Cycle, I read about a character named Fergus MacRoigh. Fregus was the King of Ulster, and generally a badass.
He became infatuated by a woman named Nessa, and she agreed to marry him if he would let her young son Connor be king for one year.
Fergus agreed and Nessa counciled Connor to give the people of Ulster everything they wanted so when the year was up, they wouldn't want Fergus back. Her plan worked, and the people wanted Connor to remain the king. Fergus really didn't like all of the politics of being king anyway, so he stepped aside and became a teacher instead.
I've always liked the character of Fergus, but I really liked the name. It just seemed right.
I created a character in my head named Captain Fergus Plinko.(Plinko is just a fun word to say)
Captain Plinko became my gamertag, and eventually, when I started performing songs for people, I took the stage name Fergus Plinko. Eventually, a band formed around me, so the band was also named Fergus Plinko. At that point I just started using Fergus for myself to save on confusion.
I love the name Fergus, and I might legally change my name someday, but I hate paperwork, so maybe not.
