I think you hit the nail on the head with "create ways of educating them about how the whole Steemit site and Steem system works".
As a new user, not a lot is laid out in simple terms. A lot of the information you find assumes that you already have a certain amount of pre-existing knowledge, and a lot of times that just isn't the case!
