The steemSTEM meetup in Geneva, Steemfest in Krakow, steemSTEM meetup in Florence/Pisa, and now the 5th Steem meetup in Aachen! The meetups with awesome people just don't stop happening. And they're always so fun!
and I arrived around 3 in the afternoon in Aachen, after traveling the long way from [REDACTED]. After we had dropped off our bags at the meetup place, we drove the car back to the car rental, and walked back through the city, finally arriving again around 5. I brought along some tape for name tags, and to label glasses, after
had forgotten to take care of that :P
The meeting room, with a super cool interactive 4k display.
Soon, others arrived (I must confess, I don't remember every nickname, but provided a handy list of at least the people who had planned to show up).
There was food, oh so much food. Remember the masses of food at Steemfest 3? I like the fact that Steemians appear to value good food. And beer, apparently, but I can't say anything about the quality of that, as I don't drink alcohol at all ...
Soon, the talks started. I had almost intentionally forgotten about the fact that I had been listed as one of the speakers.
Till the last moment, I hoped that everyone would just forget about it ... but then, we listened to 's awesome talk "The EU Blockchain - equipped with a Steem engine".
After promised that I could just hold my presentation without the camera running (ha!), I talked a bit about Utopian, about communities, and about the Steem community in general (also about how lonely it can be in steem.chat). I know, I know, you all would have liked to see me talk. Should have shown up to Aachen!
The take-home message of it was, that we all need to do more to further the community feeling of Steem, because that's the main appeal for the masses. It's not just about big investors. If we want to make Steem mainstream, we need people who have no idea how a blockchain even works - and we need them to be happy, without a steep learning curve.
Fittingly, then presented the current project
(you know, the guys who run minnowbooster, ginabot, steemvoter, DLease, ...) is working on: tokenBB!
His livestream is super awesome and you should check it out to gain some insights in what this amazing team is working on.
The last live stream was about the badges issued by . It was an absolute pleasure meeting
again!
Aside from food and talks, I also bonded a lot with and
.
experienced first-hand what happens when you tell me, an enthusiastic hugger and toucher, that you like hugging and random touching too: We ended up hugging and back scratching all the time. Wonderful, just wonderful!
All in all, the meetup was, albeit not the largest one, a great deal of fun and generally a success. Thank you for organizing it, and hosting
and me at your house. Looking forward to the next time!
