Steem Monsters are currently blowing up all over Steemit. This is awesome and great for the Steemit ecosystem.Nothing shows off the power of the Steem Blockchain more than when you sprinkle a disruptive and brilliant innovation amongst an army of content creators.

But what I want to highlight here is not just Steemmonsters themselves.
I want to point out that the GOLD Steemmonsters have now become the most valuable and sought after part of the collection!
I am seeing auctions with gold Steemmonsters going for upwards of 300 - 1000 SBDS.
Is this coincidence or happenstance?
If it is, then we have to contribute coincidence to all of recorded monetary history.
I cannot say what the long term value of collecting these cards will be. I can say with confidence though, if the gold cards mirror the scarce nature of the actual gold in the real world those are the cards that will maintain their value.
I don’t want to do a whole post on the economy of the Steem Monsters cards and what I think will happen regarding the value (although I might at some point ) but I DO want to point out that any time we are talking about value in a monetary sense, gold has to come into play.
It is so deeply routed into our collective conciousness that gold has value that even the newest and most modern technologies and concepts (like the Steem Monsters) automatically include gold within their ecosystems.
This is actually due to physics and the physical, intert nature of the noble element AU.
For the purpose of this blog though, all we need to know is this nascent collectible game card phenomenon has already naturally included gold as it’s most valuable centerpiece.
