Hey guys! Hope you’re having a great time making your proposal for steem monsters contest because we –my wife
and I- have had a blast. After knowing about the contest and reading the terms our minds blown trying to reduce tons of ideas into a single one. We wanted to try to create something entirely new for this, because we love card games –traditional like yu-gi-oh! and new one’s like Heartstone or Clash Royale – and now Steem Monster so we had many ideas coming to our minds but none of them was great enough.
Therefore, we started to research about some mythological beasts to get some inspiration and found the Jörmungandr from In Norse mythology. It’s a sea serpent, son of Loki and Angrboða, that encircles Midgard’s great ocean and bites his own tale until Ragnarök beginning. So we decided to take this huge snake and mix it with a dragon – because who doesn’t love dragons?
I started taking our ideas together with paper and charcoal by hand trying to blend in all things together.
Then my wife started to make some digital art magic with CorelDraw X7 digitalize and painting tools. It was a train wreck to decide colors and style until with finally could name our final card proposal for the steem monsters contest.
We decided to go with “Triskele Dragon” because our monster favourite part was its horns and tale. For those of you who doesn’t know this tale, there’s a story about Odin’s – following the Norse mythology thread – quest in the search for the Odhroerir - a magical mead brewed from the blood of the wise god Kvasir – that required him to drink from a horn.
Making this proposal took almost 3 days of work – mostly because our baby boy consumes almost all of our time - Take a look how our Triskele Dragon would look in a Steem Monster card. We think looks pretty cool, did you like it? We hope maybe someday we’ll see our proposal in dragon deck!
