If you haven't heard, Steem Monsters is working on incorporating the Tron Community into the game. They are doing this in an effort to introduce a slew of new people to the game, and by association, STEEM. They are raising funds through a process called SEEDGerminator. You can check out the crowdfunding effort here: https://seedgerminator.sesameseed.org/
There are some perks to being a contributer to the crowdfunding effort. You can contribute in Tron or SEED tokens. Here's the perks, taken from the Splinterlands Funding Pdf.
Offer #1 - Contribute with TRX For every 500 TRX contributed from a TRON wallet address, that address will receive tokens redeemable for:
● 8 Beta edition booster packs (retail price $16 USD)
● 5 randomly chosen, exclusive SEEDGerminator Limited Edition Promo CardsIncreased Contribution Bonuses (any fractional amounts will be rounded up):
● Addresses contributing 2,500 TRX or more will receive a bonus 10% additional SEED promo cards
● Addresses contributing 5,000 TRX or more will receive a bonus 25% additional SEED promo cards
● Addresses contributing 10,000 TRX or more will receive a bonus 50% additional SEED promo cardsOffer #2 - Contribute with SEED For every 500 SEED contributed from a TRON wallet address, that address will receive tokens redeemable for:
● 12 Beta edition booster packs (retail price $24 USD, ~33% discount vs. TRX)
● 100 randomly chosen, exclusive SEEDGerminator Limited Edition Promo CardsIncreased Contribution Bonuses (any fractional amounts will be rounded up):
● Addresses contributing 2,500 SEED or more will receive a bonus 10% additional SEED promo cards
● Addresses contributing 5,000 SEED or more will receive a bonus 25% additional SEED promo cards
● Addresses contributing 10,000 SEED or more will receive a bonus 50% additional SEED promo cards
Okay, so there is an obvious advantage to contributing by SEED in the 4 extra BETA packs, but more importantly the 95 additional Limited Edition Promo Cards. Based on how much profit I made by being an early investor in Steem Monster Cards and then selling my Gold Foil Legendaries, I am going to take the calculated risk of investing in this seed round to get those limited edition cards.
So what is a SEED token, and how do you get it?
Well, there is the complicated way, where you can freeze some Tron and then use it as voting power in the SesameSEED system to earn SEED. Or you can go on an exchange like https://trontrade.io/exchange/2 and buy the SEED you need. Current rate of exchange is 3.12 Tron per Seed. Call it 1600 Tron for the 500 SEED required as minimum investment.
Tron is currently trading at $0.028, so for the Tron contribution you are looking at a $14 investment. To contribute in SEED you are looking at closer to $45.
Tron is going to be much easier to contribute, but the SEED contribution isn't all that tough. So let's walk through the steps.
First you need to make sure you have a Tron Wallet that you own the private key too. I like TronLink as it feels very familiar to me as a user of MetaMask. I'm going to assume you are familiar with setting up a wallet and I don't need to go through copying down the seed phrase and all that good stuff.
So you have a Tron Wallet, now you need some Tron. I opted to use my SBD to buy the tron with. So I needed to head to an exchange. I could have taking my SBD to Bittrex, since they have an SBD market, but their Tron wallets are currently not allowing deposits/withdrawals. So I just made a quick trip to the internal market and sold my SBD into STEEM so I could head over to Binance.
Once the STEEM arrives at Binance you can sell it in to BTC which you then use to buy Tron.
Withdraw the Tron from Binance to your Tron Wallet.
Head over to TronTrade and the market to buy SEED with Tron.
Once you have converted Tron to Seed, send to the Splinterlands contribution address. Your contribution rewards will be linked to the Tron address the Seed or Tron are sent from, so make sure you don't send the contribution from an exchange.
I'm still waiting for my SEED buy order to fill, so I haven't actually contributed yet, but I'm looking forward to getting there!
So there's my run down of contributing to the Splinterlands. What do you think? Are you up to the challenge?
