Steemmonsters Burn #01 - But should I do another?!?

Hive account@jrvacation did a post a couple of weeks back encouraging people to burn their low value steemmonsters cards in return for a larger upvote from him, so here I’m doing just that!

To burn steemmonsters cards all you have to do is gift them to null and thanks to Hive account@onetin84 for pointing me in the direction of the excellent peakmonsters.com which makes gifting several cards at once easy.

To qualify for Hive account@jrvacation’s upvote all you need do is to transfer at least $1 of worthless cards to Hive account@null, screenshot to prove, knock up a post and then hit him up in discord…. All outlined in the post linked above.

He give you a $1.20 upvote in return!

Why I’m burning…

I do a daily Hive account@steemmonsters giveaway via my alt account Hive account@self-track and I’ve noticed a dismal response for cards that are valued at $0.01-0.02 dollars, suggesting these cards are worthless. The idea behind my giveaways was that I’d get a bigger value upvote than the value of the cards I was giving away, but with these low value cards I get next to nothing, so it makes sense to burn them.

Burning is a way of tackling inflation… it can only have a positive effect on the value of future reward cards I get.

Finally, I’ll give anything a go once for fun. Actually that’s not true, I’m far too reserved for anything: I’ll give some things which I can do for fun a go, especially those things I can do while sitting around on my arse.

Downsides of burning….

I could be losing money in the future – if steem moons and SM becomes wildly popular, even these shit cards might be worth 10* what they are now… I might be burning cards which could be worth $10 in the future, not $1, so maybe I’ll just do this once… it’s kind of fun once.

It feels like a bit of a slap in the face to poorer SM players…. Who could only afford these lowly cards. Maybe I should have just given then away gratis.

Still, it’s done now! Interesting concept…
