So, frankly... you guys are nutz. Amazing nuts! But nuts. For god's sake the introductory post hasn't even paid out yet and you people have bought $25000 worth of cards and over 10k booster packs. You're insane. You're all literally insane. I love it!
Feed the Bern!
Many people have described the feeling of kid like excitement over this game. You want to collect the cards. You're excited to open them. You're excited to see them. You're excited to see what this game turns into too. We are too. In honor of Bernie/Nextgencrypto becoming the first person to collect all the cards in the alpha we're going to make an achievement honoring him. When you collect all the cards in the alpha we'll call it "Feed the Bern!" which references that burning itch to get more cards.
This is just one of hopefully very many achievements that we create based on what you guys do, who does it, and really make the lore in the game reflect real life events that happened as we play it. You literally get written into the game.
A glimpse into the future
Speaking of which after the big post pays out I'm going to announce an auction. Somebody is going to be an early stage Boss Fight in the game!
Let's talk about how this works. Steem Monsters is a drafting game. It's not played card by card like in MTG or Hearthstone. Those games are cool but it's a little beyond the present scope of what we can do.
This game is going to involve simulated combat. There are going to be many ways to play.
-Dailies... easy combats against a computer generated opponent to slowly get decks for free
-Campain/storymode- Harder solo combats that you can explore with some fun story lines
-Free PVP- the main money draw will be these tournaments. Many will enter 1 will leave. The collective winners will get at least 1k SBD in our first mega tournament.
-Paid PVP- You'll enter into smaller tournaments like you might in poker. You'll pay a tournament fee and the highest ranking players will get paid out of the tournament entry fee pot.
-Guild PVP- We'll institute guild combat were you can join a guild and have your team smash other guilds.
-Guild PVE- BOSS FIGHTS! Potentially raids. That's right you and your guild will work together to fight Epic Boss Monsters that will drop guild loot!
Playing- It's a drafting game
The game will work essentially like this. You'll have summoners. They can summon monsters. Summoners won't actually fight, but will provide buffs to everyone on your team. Summoners will have a mana pool that they can use each day. When they run out of mana they can no longer summon monsters and you'll be at your action limit for the day. Monsters will have a mana cost. Some are big. Some are little. They'll have different purposes.
What will happen is a given tournament will have a given mana cost. Let's say it's 10 mana. That means the summoner will lose 10 mana for being in that tournament and will summon up to 10 mana worth of creatures. That could be 10 x1 mana little monsters or 1 x 10 mana big monster.
You're goal is to figure out what team you think is most likely to win. Then assemble that team and have them fight. The fighting will be simulated. It's not turn by turn. A computer will run the match up and determine who won based on the card stats and some rules it will follow that we'll publish in the not too distant future.
Winners will be paid out, get loot, get rewards, big tournament winners will get etched into the halls of fame and glory. We might even make some achievements and name stuff in the game after them or highly successful guilds.
So... it's like combining Magic the Gathering, with D&D, and an NFL draft.
It's also like rocks paper scissors because we're going to make it so that some teams are likely to beat other teams because of rule based buffs and debuffs when fighting certain colors or types of monsters. Your trick is to figure out what other people are going to play and then play what you think will beat them!
So... the auction will be to become the first Boss Fight in the game! You might want to get some liquid steem ready for that....
Card art
We're working with an illustrator. Here you can see us starting to mess around with putting key features of the cards into the game. Attack, magic attack, health, defense, and speed, mana cost, rarity, level, experience, and combat skills are all on the card. We'll have more stats and story built in too.
When you open packs now there is a fun change that shows you the rarity in neon lights. So opening packs should be a little cooler. We're working on adding sounds that put together. We're pimping this whole thing out one step at a time!
Here's what it looks like now when you open a pack
@#%@#$@#$@# no @#@#$@#$ legendaries in that pack!!!!
Here's opening a new pack up sound. https://instaud.io/2g9e Lemme know what you think.
