You Have Turned us Into Monsters!!!
Yesterday two very non-tech-ey, non-game-ey, non-geeky gals on steemit, and
, admitted their addiction to Steem Monsters. They are so excited, in fact, they have managed to pull together an actual weekly live broadcast CENTERED on this exploding online tradable card game.
Although this new show touches on some of the more technical aspects of the game itself, the show focuses primarily on the lore and fan fiction behind the game.
The name of the show? Fan Fiction.
Yesterday was the debut. And who better to appear as an opening guest than Steem Monsters co-founder, himself!
He read aloud the Twisted Jester story - a main character in the "black" element of the lore. The story was submitted by for a lore-writing contest put on by Steem Monsters in order to attract more talent and content to the game. His was the winning story for this particular character.
And pulled off an amazing reading, giving goose bumps to the listeners and hosts alike. Afterward, he hung around for some much needed Monster chat.
He explained how he and have already done other projects together and compliment each other really well. When they came up with the idea for this game, they knew they needed to do it together, and the only place for it was Steemit - the database and structure for the game were already in place. A solid userbase was already in place. An established cryptocurrency brought a token-like aspect to the cards. And the fact that both individuals are already witnesses on this blockchain provided a huge impetus to do something that would cotribute to the economy and community of steem.
It was kind of a no-brainer to go this route, and with the two minds together, and everything already in place, it only took them a couple of months from inception to alpha launch. Beta launch should be in September, when the actual games should begin.
explains that at some point, alpha cards will no longer be in print. Once in Beta, alpha will eventually be discontinued.
By default the alpha version will eventually become truly collectible cards, as there will be no way to obtain them unless they are traded.
The cards should appreciate in value, with the value of STEEM, and with the intrinsic value they have in the trading and gaming aspect.
During the show, and
