Hello Steemians!
Festivals are known to be the grandest, prismatic/brilliant, and lively celebrations in the Philippines. Sinulog Festival in Cebu, Philippines is one of the center celebrations in the island where the it is routinely attracting thousands or millions of people to come to celebrate. Aside from religious aspect, Cebuanos have deep faith to Sr. Sto. Nino. Going to church, praying and singing "batobalani sa gugma"(magnet of love) song during the novena mass and lighting candles are our ways to be thankful and showing to Sto. Nino our devotion to him.
Sinulog Festival is held every 3rd Sunday of the month of January. This year, Sinulog was held on the 21st of January and I did not expect I had so much fun. Let me share my Sinulog experience, weeks before the festival I told my friends that I'm not going out because of the crowd during the celebration but to make the story short, I was out from my lair with some of the photographers and there I was on the street, capturing photos of the sinulog queens and contingents who were dancing, it was a remarkable moment for me, a beautiful experience to be kept.
Sinulog is a practice/ritual prayer dance honoring Sr. Sto. Nino or what we call the child Jesus. During the festival, you can see a festival queen carries the image of the child Jesus dancing to the rhythm of the music.
Amazed by the people how they managed and celebrated Sinulog festival, even if it was crowded, you could still see on their faces how they were enjoying the event and watching the participants danced made them moved. Hearing the people how they shouted these words, "Viva Pit Senyo!!" showed our acceptance of Christianity.
To my fellow Steemians, "Viva Pit Senyor!"
