I continue my (non-linear) tale of the #SteemP2PTour
With our journey to Steem Park.
With our journey to Steem Park.
On September 16th, and I met up with another Minnesota compatriot, "lildumplin" for the next leg of our journey as we were preparing to set off for Iceland, however, the flight was oversold and we ended up needing to spend the night in New York. I reached out to family in Brooklyn, and they graciously agreed to host us for the evening. And so we spent the night in Brooklyn and the following day we were scheduled to fly out, Odin willing, to Iceland!
In the meanwhile we had the whole day ahead of us since the flight wasn't until evening, and so we determined to set off to make the journey to STEEM PARK the first public design project fully funded by cryptocurrency. STEEM PARK is a park within a park, which was conceived of and executed by designers Kirk Finkel and Michael Lee
.
The ephemeral becomes tangible
I'm a big believer that if cryptocurrency can't emerge from the world of the abstract and affect the world of the tangible, it will be of limited use as a benefit to humanity. In my estimation, Steem itself is really the first blockchain based project with any real tangible impact on users who come from outside the world of cryptocurrency, and so to see it begin to give rise to "real-world" projects in physical spaces, well that just takes the cake! as they say.
Once we made it to STEEM PARK we wanted to leave a little token of our having been there, but since there was no guest book of any kind I took it upon myself to transform a box of toothpicks into a #steemcache for anyone to leave a little note or object when they visit the park. You'll have to watch the video to see where we left it!
Well without further ado, here's a fun little video of our journey to STEEM PARK!
I hope you too get to make a journey to STEEM PARK if you're in the Brooklyn / NYC area! Stop by, leave a note, and make a post!

I'm currently in the city of Detroit with the rest of the Agoric Systems crew, working on a project we hope will have a positive impact on the Steem community. Details of which will be unveiled at Steem Fest 2. Check out the Agoric Systems witness proposal, and consider voting agoric.systems for witness, to help support our efforts on behalf of the Steem blockchain!
